Discovering a Treasure While Plowing the Land
In a quiet village, there once lived a simple man who owned a fertile piece of land. Every season, he would plant wheat in it. When the time for planting approached, he decided to hire a man with a tractor to help plow and prepare the soil. After agreeing on the wage, the landowner left the tractor driver to begin his work while he went off to take care of his daily affairs.
By evening, the landowner returned to check on the progress. But he was met with a strange sight—the tractor and its driver had disappeared without warning. All that remained in the field were the broken fragments of a clay jar in one specific spot of the freshly plowed earth.
He approached carefully and examined the remains. About forty centimeters underground, he noticed the clear outline of a hollow space in the soil, indicating that a jar had once been buried there, tightly sealed with a hard white substance resembling plaster. Questions began to race through his mind. Had the jar been empty and simply broken, ending the matter there? Or had the tractor driver discovered something valuable and fled? But at that moment, he found no clear answer.
Days passed, then months, yet the incident was not forgotten. Rumors began to spread throughout the village about the tractor driver, whose life had suddenly changed. From a simple man living day to day, he had become a property owner with business ventures, and clear signs of sudden wealth appeared in his life.
The landowner’s suspicions were confirmed, so he decided to confront him. He went to the man and asked directly what he had found that day in his field. But the driver, as expected, strongly denied everything, swearing that he had discovered no treasure and that he had left only due to an emergency.
The farmer returned home. Despite the bitterness of disappointment, his faith was stronger than his sorrow. He realized there was no way to change what had happened. The treasure, although buried in his land for years, was never meant to be his. Had it been destined for him, it would have been revealed without effort. Instead, fate led a stranger to plow the land, take the fortune, and move on.
Moral of the story:
What is not meant for you will not reach you, no matter how hard you try.
